Bringing Up Baby

Documenting the baby makin' experience. From Trying to Conceive, to Bringing Up Baby, I share all the laughs and all the horror.

I'm Jess, I'm 30 years old, I live in Minneapolis with The Husband, Jack (the girl dog with a boy name), and The Mac -- the person we made. He's pretty much the most awesome human being alive and easily the greatest thing I've ever done.

If you're interested, my primary blog is Scattered Jigsaw Thoughts.

This Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Puppy is one of the worst toys Mac has received.*  In fact, for a long time, I wouldn’t let Mac play with it because it made me so crazy.  The voice.  The songs.  The incessant chatter.  It’s awful.  But recently, I pulled it out of storage and let Mac play around with it a bit.  I assumed he’d get bored and ignore it, the way he does with most of his other toys.
I was wrong. Weird.
He loves that damn dog so much that he sleeps with it.  He falls asleep pushing the heart over and over again, which plays the worst baby song since Barney’s “I love you, you love me…” bullshit.  He wakes up pressing the hand so that it plays “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”.  But the worst part is when he plays the puppy in the middle of the night.
There are few things creepier than the sound of a battery-powered puppy singing “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider” over the baby monitor at 3:00 am.
This toy makes Mac so happy, so I keep it around. But I will be so happy the day he finally grows tired of it and I can relegate this creepy puppy to the far corner of the closet.
*Dear BFF who reads this blog — I am not criticizing your gift giving abilities. Mac LOVES his toy, so clearly you did right by him. I am simply a bratty, ungrateful mom who likes to take to her public blog to whine about stupid shit. I love you, and hope you still love me.
