Bringing Up Baby

Documenting the baby makin' experience. From Trying to Conceive, to Bringing Up Baby, I share all the laughs and all the horror.

I'm Jess, I'm 30 years old, I live in Minneapolis with The Husband, Jack (the girl dog with a boy name), and The Mac -- the person we made. He's pretty much the most awesome human being alive and easily the greatest thing I've ever done.

If you're interested, my primary blog is Scattered Jigsaw Thoughts.

  • I love Camille on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  There.  I said it.  And I’m not ashamed!!
  • Ok, I’m a little ashamed.
  • In order to get my kid to eat green beans yesterday, I had to feed him Lady and the Tramp style.  We shared green beans like those dogs shared spaghetti. Whatever, he hadn’t had a vegetable in two days — I was going to do whatever it took.
  • I’m going to be whining on twitter for the next month about how stressed and anxious the holidays are making me. I’m just going to offer a blanket apology right now.
  • I’ve been blogging for many years, but I didn’t realize that “mommy blogging” was a thing until I actually started blogging about being a mother.  I mean, I had never even heard of Dooce.  Yeah.  I led a pretty sheltered blogging life.  The world outside tumblr basically didn’t exist to me. I’m a dumbass.
  • Parenthood makes me cry every single week.  That show just gets it right when it comes to depicting so many different family (and LIFE) dynamics.  Love. It.
  • I dislike most Thanksgiving food.  Therefore, I dislike the holiday.  I know. I KNOW. It’s pretty un-American of me, but whatever.
  • After tossing yet another meal in the trash this morning, I told Mac I was going to sell him to the mailman. I may or may not follow through with this threat. I’m really tired of throwing away food.  Our mailman does seem sort of crazy, though, so it’s probably best if I wait for the UPS man to come by. Responsible parenting FTW!
  • It is unlikely I’ll be blogging the rest of the week.  I’ve got a rehearsal dinner tonight, that stupid turkey holiday tomorrow, a wedding on Friday, and at some point I have to figure out how to make mashed potatoes, clean my house, and make me feet presentable for the general public. I need to accept my limitations and know that blogging probably isn’t going to happen.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
