Bringing Up Baby

Documenting the baby makin' experience. From Trying to Conceive, to Bringing Up Baby, I share all the laughs and all the horror.

I'm Jess, I'm 30 years old, I live in Minneapolis with The Husband, Jack (the girl dog with a boy name), and The Mac -- the person we made. He's pretty much the most awesome human being alive and easily the greatest thing I've ever done.

This past weekend was truly an awesome weekend with Mac.  I feel like we are at a magic stage with him right now — old enough to do fun things with, but not quite at the terrible twos.  A total sweet spot.

It snowed for real in Minneapolis this past weekend and we decided to take Mac outside to play in snow for the first time in his life.  He LOVED it, and it was so much fun to watch him stomp around in his boots and learn all about the new white stuff on the ground.

After an evening filled with traipsing through the snow and a playdate with his BFF, we woke up the next day and decided to take Mac sledding for the first time.

I thought maybe he’d be scared of going down the hill all by himself but he smiled and laughed the entire time.  I think it’s safe to say we’ve got ourselves a little snowbunny.

Later that afternoon my parents came and picked him up to go do Christmasy stuff downtown.  They took him to Macy’s Santaland, got a picture of him on Santa’s lap (he didn’t cry, but he appeared to be on the brink of a complete meltdown based on the picture. Obvs, I love it), and they wanted to take him to the Holidazzle Parade, but they got there too early and he got cold and tired so they cut the trip short and brought the little dude back home to cuddle with mama.

It was a busy weekend. It was a wintery weekend. It was a weekend of new discoveries and experiences.  It was a really fantastic weekend.  And it’s weekends like this that help me remember just how lucky I truly am.
